About Me

Hi, my name Sydney and I am from Cornelius, North Carolina. Cornelius; population: 14,783 and located between Davidson and Huntersville, North Carolina and about 30 minutes from the border of South Carolina. You probably haven’t heard of it! To give you an idea of how small it is, I currently attend NC State University, which houses about 33,000 students. You could put two of my hometowns with some extra change at NC State!

Downtown Cornelius!

I started this blog really to keep my family up to date on what was going on in my college life. Now though as I progress through life, I am using it as a way to show that a small town girl like me can deal with big world changes and still make my way to the top. Two years ago, my parents got a divorce. To me this was like the end of the world, everyone told me I had the perfect family and the perfect parents and they didn’t understand why they were getting a divorce. This was extremely difficult for me because I was in the same place; I had no idea why this was happening to my life. I had this image in my mind of the two parent household, white-picket fence, 2.5 kids, the whole shebang and suddenly it was crumbling at my feet faster then I could process any of it. Now two years later, I am trying to rebuild the broken relationship with my father and learning to handle my emotions better.

I’m passionate about running, living a healthy lifestyle, reading, my friends, my family, my dogs, NC State cheerleading and so much more.

I may be from a small town, but I have big dreams. I want to graduate from NC State with a degree in Nutrition and then hopefully become a Registered Dietician working at a hospital helping people change their diets that have been diagnosed with certain diseases. I want to rebuild the relationships that were broken in my parents divorce and encourage others to participate in a life of fitness and health. Don’t count me out because this small town girl is out to rise above the rest
