A little life update

So happy to have reached the weekend! As I am sitting in my bed preparing this post, the most beautiful snowflakes are falling down outside. I didn’t even know that it was supposed to snow today, but when I woke up and checked twitter (as one naturally does first thing when they wake up) I was surprised to read that snow seems to be falling across North Carolina ๐Ÿ™‚


I have quite the stressful week coming up with 4 tests, Monday-Thursday so I spent most of yesterday doing homework and laundry. I know Iโ€™m the coolest 20 year old youโ€™ve ever met ๐Ÿ˜‰

Life Plans

I know I have talked before about how I am a constant planner and I think God really gets a kick out of them and says, “Sydney, when are you going to learn? I make the plans.” So sometimes things don’t work out the way that I wanted to, but I am taking every opportunity to learn from my experiences.

Its time now to focus on me. These are my 20’s, time for focusing on being the best student, athlete, Christian, daughter, sister, friend, roommate that I can. At the end of the day my strength comes from within and from my faith.

Today is all about relaxing in preparation for tomorrow, we play the Citadel for our military appreciation game! I’m also waiting to hear from Emmy about if she is going to come visit after work, hope she can make it! I have a lot of studying to do also because I have a test in Genetics on Monday. Fingers crossed it goes better than the last one ๐Ÿ™‚

How did everyone’s Monday go?? Did you start off with what you were thankful for? I’m telling you, it really puts things in perspective to focus on the good instead of dwell on the bad.

Anywho, my Monday started out much the same as every other Monday, with 6:45am lifts. We were testing today (just like I thought) and it was disappointing to see that my max was lower then the last time I lifted. It should have been expected considering I didn’t actually lift at all this summer, but still a disappointment. I maxed out on squat at 155 and 95 for bench. But now that I have something to base my workouts off of, I can really start cracking down and getting my weight up at lift. No more slackin’! Then Emily and I headed down to the track to do our cardio. Now that everything is cooling off, we spend less time on the treadmill and more time in the fresh air ๐Ÿ™‚ We did a mile on the track today, which we should probably also be upping that too ๐Ÿ˜‰

I only had Genetics today because my History class got cancelled so as soon as it was over I hurried home to do a quick make over of myself and head back to campus in my uniform to go to an appearance. I was that girl on the bus today in uniform with a bow in my hair. So embarrassing! I really need to get a car (christmas/birthday anyone???)

The appearance was at a gold tournament about 40 minutes away and probably would have been a really good time, had I not gotten eaten alive by bugs. I have really bad allergic reactions when one bug gets ahold of me….so imagine a whole slue of bugs that decided to enjoy my things in particular. Everything swelled up so big that my legs got tight and I couldn’t feel them properly and then my chest started tightening. This is when I really started to panic because I didn’t have any allergy medication or an epi pen or anything! Once I was panicking, it made the tightness worse (will I ever learn??) My legs are recovering better now, but I still have huge welts. I felt lightheaded at practice today and I don’t know if it was a side reaction, but if it keeps up I might just head to the Student Health center to get some antibiotics to be on the safe side.

I had a bit of time between the appearance and practice so I tried out my new workout DVD, Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. WHOO! It was a buttkicker! I really liked it (mainly because I think Jillian Michaels is AWESOME) I need to get more appropriate weights because today I used a can of baked beans and a can of cream of mushroom (embarrassing but you have to work with limited options)

Practice flew by today and now I am finishing up this post while the roomies fix dinner. After dinner its all about some homework and then shower and bed. Tomorrow I have lab and then nothing else, one class and no practice? Sounds like thats time to do all my homework and test out biking from my apartment complex to the rec center! I just need to find my bike lock…
