Days without practice

Today was one of those days where as soon as my classes were done, my responsibilities to the outside world ended. There was no practice looming over my head, meaning I had to stick to a strict schedule in order to maximize the amount of time I had in the day. No, not today. Today, I went to class, did my rehab, then went to study hall. I started the day with 0 hours and finished with 4 hours and 29 minutes (which always makes me crazy, like I want to re-swipe in and then swipe out again to make it 30 minutes haha)

I spent that whole time working intensely on my study guide. I didn’t worry about catching the bus back in time because I didn’t pack cheer clothes so I can’t just stay on campus, I just worked in study hall until my eyes felt like they were crossed. That’s when I knew it was time to go home. I still came back and continued studying, but those 40 minutes it took to get home did wonders for my attention span.

I also, for the first time in my 3 years since being here, attended the Athlete Talent Show! What a hoot! We had a couple of our teammates performing and they all were hands down the best and I promise I’m not biased, well at least entirely. All of our performers finished in the top 2 of the talent section. Cheerleaders are clearly jacks of all trades 😉 Needless to say, some of the other athletes should be thankful for their physical talents and leave their other “careers” behind. Although I do give everyone props who performed tonight because I wouldn’t have the nerve to do it.

Once back home, it was time for some relaxation and Homeland! Anyone seen it? Apparently it is filmed in Charlotte, which is really amazing and I’m hoping that the next time I am home, Daddy can take me to go see one of the sets (hint hint) It is a really intense show, but I am loving every minute of it. Huge thanks to Meredith’s family for getting me hooked 🙂 If it was up to me I would probably already be through the 2 seasons because I would neglect all other responsibilities, stay in bed and watch episode after episode until I was done. Thankfully, that isn’t the case and I’m being paced so I’m not shirking any of my duties.

Random side note- ever notice how everything seems to run out at exactly the same time? I am currently on the verge of being out of toilet paper, conditioner, shaving cream, body wash, milk, bread, laundry detergent, mascara, and food in general. When I’m not on campus and can eat a meal there with my dining dollars, I eat bread with butter. Ahhh the life of a poor college student haha

Tomorrow is a busy day because I don’t finish class until 5:30/6:30 depending on how long lab lasts, and then I have practice from 6-8. Then it is right back to studying for my last test until spring break.

I think I can. I think I can.

Tornado Watch

Today was full of crummy weather! I woke up to the sound of rain and was surprised to see it was 8:45am. My alarm was set for 7:51 PM instead of AM (good thing I didn’t have lab until 12!!) I enjoyed my morning at a leisurely pace, having turkey bacon, eggs and an english muffin for breakfast while watching Live with Kelly and Michael (such a funny pair)

Right toward the end, those annoying messages popped up saying there was a tornado watch for my county until 5 pm. I immediately went to my room to pull out my rain jacket and rain boots! Lab was boring like usual, but once it was over I headed to the training room to get my bites checked out. They are still pretty swollen and super itchy and painful. I was given some cream and benadryl and told to come back in a week if it wasn’t any better. The cream seemed to work earlier, but my legs are just as itchy now so who knows what will happen!

When I got back to the apartment it was very dark (still raining) and mere was on the couch ready for a nap, that meant I had full license to curl up in the chair and take one too! I mean obviously thats how it works! The Mere left for lift and I had the whole apartment to myself, which meant it was time to be productive. I turned the tv off and got started on my homework. I took a break to do Day Two of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and it left me just as sweaty and tired as Day One did. I really like it because I can feel the burn while I am doing it and was definitely a little sore this morning in places that I don’t work often enough. Then it was back to homework until my roommates got back and we all sat down to eat dinner.

Mere and I ate a tomato my dad and I got from the farmers market with fresh mozzarella and a little olive oil and italian seasoning while Kyleigh (who is the pickiest eater on earth) ate beanie weanies and a grilled cheese. She then demanded I try said beanie weanies (heck no techno) but refused to try a bite of tomato in return. In the end, we both didn’t try the different foods. I may like cheeseburgers now, but you will never catch this girl eating a hotdog. No way no how. They freak me out, shape, texture, smell, etc.

I went back to homework until Dance Moms reunion came on and I mean come on that was a must see! Absolute train wreck. I really don’t understand why our society promotes shows like this and gives people the idea that as long as your insane you will get your own tv show and make tons of money. Prime example: last week I wasted 30 minutes of my life watching Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. The family took turns blindfolding each other and then breathing on the blindfolded person until they guessed whose breath it was. Disgusting. I couldn’t look away. What happened to quality family sitcoms? Bring back Boy Meets World, Full House, Friends, Seinfeld, Home Improvement, Family Matters, Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air!! Looks like I’m stuck in the 90’s 🙂

Another early morning tomorrow, I need to bust my butt in lift tomorrow and get the most out of that early morning workout! Then its 2 classes and a date with the library so I can be good and get my homework done! Wish I could bring my candles with me to the library, that would be so peaceful!


How did everyone’s Monday go?? Did you start off with what you were thankful for? I’m telling you, it really puts things in perspective to focus on the good instead of dwell on the bad.

Anywho, my Monday started out much the same as every other Monday, with 6:45am lifts. We were testing today (just like I thought) and it was disappointing to see that my max was lower then the last time I lifted. It should have been expected considering I didn’t actually lift at all this summer, but still a disappointment. I maxed out on squat at 155 and 95 for bench. But now that I have something to base my workouts off of, I can really start cracking down and getting my weight up at lift. No more slackin’! Then Emily and I headed down to the track to do our cardio. Now that everything is cooling off, we spend less time on the treadmill and more time in the fresh air 🙂 We did a mile on the track today, which we should probably also be upping that too 😉

I only had Genetics today because my History class got cancelled so as soon as it was over I hurried home to do a quick make over of myself and head back to campus in my uniform to go to an appearance. I was that girl on the bus today in uniform with a bow in my hair. So embarrassing! I really need to get a car (christmas/birthday anyone???)

The appearance was at a gold tournament about 40 minutes away and probably would have been a really good time, had I not gotten eaten alive by bugs. I have really bad allergic reactions when one bug gets ahold of me….so imagine a whole slue of bugs that decided to enjoy my things in particular. Everything swelled up so big that my legs got tight and I couldn’t feel them properly and then my chest started tightening. This is when I really started to panic because I didn’t have any allergy medication or an epi pen or anything! Once I was panicking, it made the tightness worse (will I ever learn??) My legs are recovering better now, but I still have huge welts. I felt lightheaded at practice today and I don’t know if it was a side reaction, but if it keeps up I might just head to the Student Health center to get some antibiotics to be on the safe side.

I had a bit of time between the appearance and practice so I tried out my new workout DVD, Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. WHOO! It was a buttkicker! I really liked it (mainly because I think Jillian Michaels is AWESOME) I need to get more appropriate weights because today I used a can of baked beans and a can of cream of mushroom (embarrassing but you have to work with limited options)

Practice flew by today and now I am finishing up this post while the roomies fix dinner. After dinner its all about some homework and then shower and bed. Tomorrow I have lab and then nothing else, one class and no practice? Sounds like thats time to do all my homework and test out biking from my apartment complex to the rec center! I just need to find my bike lock…
